The Brand New 'Seaside and Beyond' - 6'8, 7'0 and 7'4. insert pic Rob watches himself ride the 'Seaside and Beyond' (and the 'Seaside', too).
Rob watches himself ride the 'Seaside and Beyond' and the 'Seaside' as well.
Trim Time. Rob rides his Seaside and Beyond, shot by Nathan Petty.
If he let you dig through his garage you’d see his quiver is really around 5’6 and shorter, or 7’0 and longer… nothing in between.
And barely anything between 5’2 and 5’6.
Mostly just a 5’2 (Helium Seaside) and a 7’0 (LFT Seaside and Beyond).
He pontificates further in this new episode of The Wire Podcast (iTunes, Spotify), discussing his new board and his new film and his new music festival.
It was recorded inside his very much not new van; the Creeper, parked in the lot at Seaside in Cardiff – By – The – Sea, California on a Santa Ana wind swept afternoon in November.
It’s an exciting time for Rob and very different from his previous life as a Pipe Master, which he shares thoughts on in this new episode as well.
The Seaside and Beyond began as an experiment at around the same time that the Helium Seaside became public. You can see both boards in the video below.
The photo below actually shows the first Seaside and Beyond, an EPS hand shape glassed with Epoxy Bio Resin, laying just out of the frame caught by our cameras on the same day that we shot Rob’s popular ‘Seaside at Seaside‘ video in November 18’, exactly a year ago.
At the time Rob was riding this seven footer a lot, and for the past year, he’s continued to swap mostly between it and his original Helium Seaside.
“You can’t show up to the beach everyday with ten boards in your car… Instead it’s almost like, making your quiver a little bit smaller so that each board covers more ground.“
Today the Seaside and Beyond is something Rob calls “an extended version of the fun you’ve had already” on the Helium Seaside, but to us it’s more than fun, it’s a feeling; the sensation of speed on rail enhanced by an uncommon placement of quad boxes, inside of an often overlooked area of board design, what Rob calls “that world between a shortboard and a mid length.“
